Make a Quran Pouch
Make a Quran pouch to protect your holy scripture. Over two sessions you will learn how to spin wool using a drop spindle, weave a panel of fabric and construct a pouch using additional felt. Participants will also be welcome to explore the ‘Taught by the Pen: the Qur'an & the Art of Calligraphy’ exhibition which will be on the workshop venue, MIAH Gallery.

The sessions have been designed to allow participants to gain new fibre arts skills and get creative whilst reflecting on the benefits of working with natural materials and traditional processes. Ages 18+, the workshop requires some hand dexterity and as such is not suitable for those with hand/wrist arthritis or carpal tunnel. No experience required but basic hand stitching skills advantageous.
The workshops will take place at MIAH Islamic Arts Gallery, 496 Moseley Road Balsall Heath B12 9AH.
These workshops are generously supported by Birmingham Museums as part of a Post-Raphaelites artist commission. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Victorian Radicals exhibition for free at a later date.
The £5 deposit is refundable upon attendance.
